Don't know what to do after High School

Mom thought I would need a little more structure and stability after High School. I do want to go into the military and be Marine. That's what I want to be, I just got a little sidetracked this year.

And that's ok, but it does mean you will be a year behind others your age. Pick yourself up, brush off this past year and move forward. Start by doing some research on everything that myself and others have posted here. You can also find a ton of info by reading old threads on this forum. You've been offered a lot of good advice. I wish you all the best!

I thought about just taking time off and doing PT until next school year and applying to military colleges next year. I really want to go through West Point and go to school/ train there before I go off to the military. That way I can kind of ease into it, because all of this is so new to me.
Trust me. You will not be easing into anything by attending one of the Service Academy's. Look further into NROTC without the scholarship and PLC dring your summer vacations.

Another suggestion would be to enlist in U.S. Marine Corps Forces Reserve (USMCR) and pick an MOS that interests you and attend a community college. USNA appoints enlisted Active and Reserve Sailors and Marines directly and to the Naval Academy Preparatory School (NAPS). You can then commission as a USMC officer out of USNA. Also, since being close to your boyfriend, friends, and family is important to you, going into the Reserves allows you to be stationed at the base closest to your residence.
