Dropping class after appointment

I have accepted my USMA appointment already, but I was wondering if it would count against me if I dropped AP Calculus as of right now, even though I have a good grade in the class. I understand that I need to finish out the year strong, but I already have 5.5 math credits, and wish to spend extra time working out and with family and friends.

Spend time with family: Yes! Once you leave for USMA, your times at home will be few, far between and fleeting.

Work out: Absolutely! You’ll want to show up for plebe summer in tip-top shape.

Drop AP Calculus, just because you have enough credits: Whaaat?!?! USMA is a rigorous STEM school, where regardless of major, you’ll graduate with something akin to an engineering minor. @A1Janitor is right. Calculus is the last course you should drop.

Agree with the above. Note that dropping that class may affect your appointment. Before taking any action I would talk with admissions RC.
I want to second this recommendation. You should not drop any class without notifying your admissions rep. If you did so, it wouldn't be obvious to admissions now, but it will when you submit your final transcripts. You don't want to have to explain why you dropped what West Point would view as a core class for its cadet candidates.

Albeit I attended a different academy, but I knew a guy who got all D/Fs in his classes his last semester of high school. The academy never knew because the few weeks between high school grades being finalized and reporting to the academy we’re not enough for them to attempt to make sure everyone actually graduated high school. Granted he struggled at the academy because he didn’t quite have the right attitude. Having said that, finish your calc class. Calc is easy if you know how to do it. Have that basis so you have one class you don’t need to worry about.

I actually talked to my admissions rc about this and he said it was ok for me to drop ap calc so i did lmao

You do you, but that’s like running 26.1 miles of a marathon then dropping out to a crowd of exasperated “why?” groans. again it’s your life so I support you doing as you wish. Assuming you graduate from USMA then Probably no harm but if you transfer elsewhere you may wish you hadn’t done this at the 23rd hour.
