Drum & Bugle Corps. When to bring instruments?

My DS plays tuba (weighs about 30 lbs) and is planning to play in the drum & bugle corps. We are assuming tryouts or signups for this are after BCT. My question is, should his Tuba be delivered to him on parents weekend? Will he need it prior to parents weekend? Or, will a tuba be issued to him :) I can't see him carting a tuba around on reporting day of BCT.
 
Contact the director, and they will tell you when to bring your tuba or your drum or your kazoo. You don't want to be carrying a tuba AND your big sack on I-Day.
 
My Son was in Drum and Bugle last year as a C4C and here is out it worked. Drum and Bugle provided instruments for tryouts and for use at practices and performances. Participants did not need their own.
 
You definitely don't want to be THAT guy on I-Day. I remember a guy holding his rolling suitcase over his head last year. . . Looked painful.
