Thank you! I've been reading about the shots, that sounds like a daunting task for 20 days but will do what he can. He is already fully vaccinated sot at least that is done! When I accepted my appointment through the portal, it took an over night feed to let the forms and check-off boxes generate. There will be shots your DS will have to get prior to reporting, even if he already had them: flu and Polio. Work on getting them scheduled now as my Dept of Health would not give them to me without climbing the ladder and speaking to supervisors.
There will be online videos your DS will need to watch and a series of math "tests" so he can be placed accordingly.
Download the Appointee Booklet- all information is on there.
He will need to purchase some boots and should be running- again it's outlined in the booklet.
My mom will tell you to join the USAFA class of 2025 parent group on fb. There's also a USAFA Parent Resource group she refers to and talks about all the time, lol.
If he doesn't already have the Covid vaccine, I do not think there's enough time left to get a complete series. That may be a question you want to find out about. I do not know if he will need to wear a mask if he doesn't have it.
Congrats to him and welcome to the CO 2025!
Aaaahhhh, yes. The SF 86!Also, start gathering items such as birth certificate, vaccination records. Don't be overwhelmed, if you are organized your DS will get through the packet. For the background clearance packet you will need prior addresses of residences, employers, schools etc. Gathering those ahead of time will make it easier to complete. CONGRATULATIONS!
There was a document posted to the portal that said that you will be given the opportunity to restart the vaccination process. "If you begin and are unable to complete the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine series before arrival to USAFA, you may be given the opportunity to restart the vaccination process depending on the availability of your vaccine series."If not and you get Pfizer or Moderna, if you get the first shot before I-Day, USAFA will get you the second shot during BCT.
According to the CDC website, "You no longer need to wait 14 days between vaccinations." https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/expect.html (scroll down a little). Then I'm pretty sure you have to wait two weeks after your required vaccinations before you can get a covid shot.
Thanks, good to know. Appointment just hit portal yesterday so today will be LONG! So strange to see "appointee" listedThe paperwork really isn't that overwhelming. Your DS can pull this off in a day, other than shots. Granted, it will be a sucky, long day, but entirely doable. There are videos he needs to watch, testing that needs completed, nothing terribly complicated. The security clearance just looks long, most of it doesn't apply, assuming nothing terribly strange in his background.
