We shipped out the first care package yesterday morning. The problem was we used UPS. 30 mins after we dropped it, we got an email reminding not to use UPS and only USPS is allowed in plebe summer.
Did anyone go through similar situation? We have running shoes (2nd pair) and snacks packed in the package. Eager to know how to fix the problem now.
DW may kill DH if DS cannot get it. SOS!!!

If you put 1 Wilson Road in the address, it will get there.

(in my experience)

Has the packet been delivered? I think you can recall it if it is not delivered yet.

It’ll get there. Eventually.

The UPS address/shipping method goes to a different facility than the usps office on the yard. But they are well versed in packages, and make deliveries over to the sorting area (is how I understand it from ‘24 mom who physically went last year and figured it all out).

BTW….the instant, reflexive reaction for package delays is to be mad. But these people work hard. And it’s beyond THEIR ability to make things run quickly, efficiently, and effectively. It’s really a thanklessness job 📦!!

Thanks. This is very helpful. We really appreciate what the supporting staff did on I-day.👍

Last year when we sent a care package to DS and some of his other shipmates, it languished in the mail room for three (3) weeks before they were allowed to go there and get it.

I texted him and told him that I was regretting my decision to send them a puppy.
I'm terrible.

Oh my 😮😅😂

Seriously, though, last year was EPIC. Not only the regular ‘delays’ (which means eventually stiff gets to them…usually an added 4 days to a week/ish), but the complete backlog due to all 4K Mids locked down on the yard. So ALLLLLL that they need (supplies. Books. Snacks. Etc, etc….) was shipped. It was a mess. And Mids couldn’t help bc it’s US mail. Not allowed (although eventually there was a mission around this figured out..to allow companies to gather and distribute their packages).

Fast forward to Mids coming back after SEMESTER break, to delivery notifications for packages. From plebe summer 😮😮😮😮!!

So, it all gets there. Eventually 😂🤣. Last year was an anomaly. But don’t send puppies. Or fish 😬

We had a second pair of shoes to send as well, but DS said he did not need as they issued him two pairs of Brooks. Plus he had worn his broken in pair so he said he was good. We swapped out the shoes for a couple bottles of Gatorade.

International student's parents don't have the "luxury" (if that can be applied here) of the USPS and their packages get to the yard....note though being delivered and making it to your mid are wildly different - that may take some time but the mid will get it.

Any parent including international can reach out to sponsor and if no good match there, reach out here or on the class fb page. A local parent or nice person will receive packages for your mid and can deliver no contact on the yard.

Why don't they get their packages through? My overseas kids have regularly sent stuff to us through other countries postal systems and it got delivered by USPS and in turn we sent them many boxes through USPS which got delivered by the other country postal systems.

Didn't know you can use USPS when shipping from another country - that was my mistake.

When someone in another country mails something to an address in the US, the package gets transferred to the USPS.
