Early Action

Haha I'm not sure I want to find out 😂

Good to know, I suspected those that have heard, like your DS, were Aug/Sept. I think they'll be releasing late Sept/Oct in the next couple of days up to Dec 23rd.
My appointment was submitted on October 13th (two days before the deadline) and I received my call and appointment yesterday

Again- Good luck to all! I know how hard it is to wait! I am rooting for you all!

People shouldn't be worried if they haven't received an appointment yet! My DD was an LOA recruited athlete. The way she found out was a call, not in the Bear's Den Portal. She also knows another LOA applicant that hasn't heard yet, so I'm almost positive they are just starting to send out selections.
congrats! my DD is a recruited swimmer as well. looking forward to meeting you next year!

I haven’t seen any appointments for this week, has anyone heard from the admissions board whether or not appointments are still rolling out?

Also, would it be inappropriate to call the admissions office regarding an application? I am assuming it would with some many applicants however wanted to check if others have done so in the past.

My recollection from CFAD Overnight Day 2 AM Presentation, mid November 2019.

*I am paraphrasing and summarizing and did not take notes

For the class of 2024:

220 Direct Appointments - 60/40 Split between EA/RA
60 others will receive Scholars Appointments (I will take the liberty that IMHO Athletics has a MAJOR influence on this.) No intel to offer between EA/RA on that.
60 Current Scholars will be Appointed to the Class of 2024
10 International Applicants will Round out the Class of 2024 to 290.
They shoot for a minimum of 33% Female but would love for 50/50.
They aim to mirror society for minorities.

I’m sorry if this is not good news for anyone but simply wanted to share what I recall coming from the Horse’s mouth.

There were 5 reported Sunday to Monday in the Appointment thread. None since. I don't have any insider knowledge, but based on last year I'm calculating that they still have 25-30% left to go by Monday. Just inferred speculation though.

Let me add that it was stated that 2/3s of Cadets play DIII sports. The importance of ones athletic profile cannot be overlooked. USCGA needs athletes and athletes make great candidates for a plethora of reasons.

These numbers are based on a historical number of 2000 completed applications.

Not sure if there is really a pattern. But if it helps scratch the itch (I know my itch was driving me nuts!!), my DS submitted his EA on 10/7, is not a recruited athlete or any special category I'm aware of (aside from Montana if that counts for anything?!) and got his admitted call from his AO on 12/15. Good luck to you all!

I also recall a presenter stating they will make about 310 Appointments to fill the 220 Direct Appointment Slots.

They were very forthright with the numbers that session. I remember sitting there going- “oh that’s good”.....”oh, that’s bad.”

Thought DS had the "email" last night when his AO told him to call him between 1600-1630. I drove 100mph home from work to be there when he called. Alas, it was to answer questions we had emailed last week. What highs and lows. :bleh2: I can tell you that the AO said the process is not complete yet and they are still looking at apps. Looking also at deferments, preps, etc. So, for what's its worth, they are still working on it. My son is an athlete, so hoping that helps his odds. This is just gut wrenching. He was accepted by multiple universities here, and looking into ROTC. But, this is the dream, right?

I would have thought the exact same thing. Ugh. Good luck!
