As I was re-reading my essay, I realized that there were minor errors (singular vs plural nouns). I know admissions will see and notice it, but will it significantly make a negative impact on my application or is it something that can be overlooked if the essay is good enough?

Did you hit send? If you can fix it, fix it. If you can't, then don't worry about it.
Worry won't help.

You are competing against people who have perfect essays. This is the most important essay you have written in your life to date. Do it correctly and change the errors.

Attendance to detail is especially significant to military officers. If you have just "minor errors" while leading men and women in combat the results are devastating. Practice attention to details in all you do.

"Attention" to detail. But I understand, sometimes an expression is used over and over growing up and it is just a little off. I know you may not phantom that. :)

I must say, I like the use of “phantom” in that way. I bet your device thought you were going for “fathom.” I get a kick out of auto-correct.

Not auto correct. How I heard that expression all my life. But I also heard "can't wait to get home and take my feet off". My mom exercised literary license with many phrases.

To get this thread back on track... Freshavocado, don't dwell on it. Learn from it and keep moving forward. This is a long process.

I have added "auto-corrupt" to my phone's dictionary for these situations.

OP, this one was on you but the next mishap might be a late guidance counselor or a storm delaying the mail. Regardless, learn what you can from each experience and keep your head up and your feet moving. Good luck.

There is an important point/lesson here. Many candidates are anxious to get their packets in "early." That's fine, but be sure to balance that enthusiasm with making sure you submit the best package possible. That means taking the time to ensure you capture all relevant information (i.e., on your activity record), have a chance to proofread, etc. One of the downsides of internet-based applications (vs. the paper of my day), is that it's so easy to hit the "send" button. And one of the downsides of texting (where spelling and grammar are abandoned), is that it's easy to take the same approach with more important documents.

A few typos in an essay won't be the end of the world, but as a general matter it pays to SLOW DOWN and make sure things are exactly as you want them before you hit "send" or "submit."

Along the lines of "phantom that";

Do you really mean what you just said literally? "No, not nessi-celery"

Now that we're on that subject, what is that vegetable that makes your pee smell funny?
Well, that's Asper-Grass, of course!

Are you serious?
Oh yes - I'm Sirius - said the Dog Star!

And my personal favorite, the little kid in “The World According to Garp” who heard “watch out for the undertow” at the beach and was terrified of that scary UnderToad just waiting for him under the surface...
