Evaluator ALO change

DS had his interview (via phone) with his evaluator ALO roughly two weeks ago. His candidate checklist has never updated and still shows ALO interview not received. We figured it takes time to update (as does everything else on the checklist). Today he noticed he is now assigned a different evaluator ALO. This seems odd as we are well under the Nov 1 due date for everything so I don't understand why the change. Does this mean he will have to interview all over again with someone else? If someone has any experience with an ALO change after an interview, I would appreciate your insight. Thank you.

Have him contact his "mentor ALO" and ask the question.

I've seen ALO's (mentor and evaluator) moved at various times. Usually its just a "paperwork" thing on the other side, and doesn't have any impact on the candidate. He's done the interview so the ALO should have accomplished the Form 4060. I will say that the last one I did (late August) took almost 8 days to get "approved" by USAFA and then it showed up on the candidates portal.

His regular ALO should be able to get an answer pretty quickly.

Update for any of those interested. Academy Admissions finally responded to DS. He was told his previously assigned evaluator ALO was an "administrative error." Now he has to re interview with the newly assigned evaluator ALO. DS is so frustrated and rightly fully so....he has already completed his interview nearly a month ago. Needless to say, admissions and their process leaves a lot to be desired.

Thank you for the update and I’m sorry to hear that your DS had to experience this with the change. I agree that the USAFA admissions needs to do a better job; however, I have learned that ALOs are volunteers and sometimes things change. I agree that we need to pack patience and just continue to be positive and support their quest.

We have experienced something similar with USAFA: my DS has sent multiple emails to the listed Evaluator ALO (starting back in July) as well as the Mentor ALO with no response. When he reached out to the Admissions team, he was told to wait 2 weeks…on three separate occasions. He even cc’d the admissions team on his last email to the ALO requesting an interview. The admissions team responded rather rudely telling him that admissions doesn’t conduct interviews and that he should read the instructions on the application process. We presume that the Admissions Team did not realize they were on the cc of the message. My DS did not reply. But he is getting frustrated as he has completed everything on his application (even DODMERB and a nomination) and all he needs to do is complete the ALO interview. I sit by and let him drive the process and it does frustrate me, but I’m sure his tenacity will find an ALO interview.

Good luck.

Thank you for sharing the ALO experience in your household. I don't know which is worse....interviewing and finding out it's not an acceptable interview due to an administrative error on admissions part...or can't even get a response from the ALO! But, I agree, this process sure is frustrating. DS also applied to Texas A&M (which receives upwards near 40,000 applications each year), and we've never had an issue talking to a human in admissions. As the saying goes, this too shall pass ;). Best of luck to your DS as well.

Thanks and same to you and your DS! Here’s hoping we can all laugh about this one day.😁

Your DS should look at this a an opportunity. It may be frustrating to have to repeat something already completed in the application process, but it is an opportunity for improvement.
The first interview was a great dress rehearsal. Now he can do the “real” interview and hit a home run. He may have done a great job on the first one as well, but there are more interviews ahead, and this experience should only help him overall.
Embrace the suck
Good luck!
