My daughter is a junior in high school and is very interested in the Air Force Academy. In 8th grade she had a series of fainting spells over a period of a couple months. She recovered from each of them almost immediately. She was tested for various cardio or nervous issues, but nothing was uncovered. They were attributed to vasovagal syncope, I believe. The episodes stopped and she has had no recurrence in over 3 years. She is a very active track athlete. I could not find any disqualification code for this - is it likely to be an issue, particularly since there was no apparent medical cause and 3 years have passed?

Many thanks for your help and the very informative forum.

Since she has had no reoccurrence in the past 3 years I would think it would be a non issue. There is no specific disqualification for syncope, but I know there is a place for it, I just can't remember off the top of my head.

So in this case I wouldn't worry, just make sure you have copies of the medical records on hand incase DoDMERB requests them.
