... so just interesting tidbits 🙃

* Mids' favorite - Buff Chicks 😅
** DS told me that he eats dinner in his room
while doing homework. Now I've seen a Mid's takeout plate dinner. There's a restaurant takeout and then there's a Mid takeout 👨‍🍳

Two Class of 2011 say Buff Chick was their favorite. They should post the recepie.

Yea king hall usually has cardboard to go boxes for rolling tray dinner. Most people still just eat in king hall though.

Is this something relatively new at the academies? M/N and Cadets have the option to take their meals to go, so they can study?

The (secret) recepie must be pretty good. The Class of 2011 went through those famine years of horrible food (September in King Hall: This bread is stale. But it says December use by date. Yes, December two years ago) and they still liked the Buff Chicken. I think there were inquiries by the Board of Visitors at the time. But the Buff Chicken was still a hit.

I had something at NASS that was like...a chicken breast with ham and cheese inside, but it was breaded and fried, so good.

... so this is just a SWAG theory on why Mids love the Buff Chix so much.
You see any normal baby 🐥🍼 has been eating chicken nuggets starting at 8 months old. Most moms hate to admit it but they fill their freezers with nuggets because the babies demand them. It's bland tasting and easy to chew... most appealing to picky eaters. And since Buff Chix is a glorified chicken nuggets, then the mids are instinctively drawn by it... almost a primal need (a need for speed, sorry wrong movie... maybe if you're watching Top Gun 3 with Buff Chix smuggled in), like comfort food... in King Hall.

thanks for sharing! very interesting!

... so it's known that the Buff Chix originated in Asia Minor 323 BC (around Alexander the Great time period). The Greek warriors feasted on them before going to battle. I think the USNA main chef had it right by feeding the Mids this battle tested delicacy. For more information, please watch the attached educational video.

... just an interesting tidbits. There's a vegetarian - organic dish that's being served from time to time and my DS is absolutely allergic to it. He can smell it right away from his room and avoids King Hall at all cost.
