Hey everyone! I was recently notified of my falcon foundation scholarship. I am stuck between northwestern prep or randolph-macon. Any insight? Thanks!

Depends on the experience you want. We have a few threads going through the pros and cons. Both schools are amazing and get you were you need to go. Highly recommend reaching out both school first, reading through the forums and then deciding.

Happy to answer any questions about NWP. Congratulations!

Northwestern Prep (NWP) is a different type of school. You'd be at their campus for the Fall, then back home to attend college of choice for Spring semester. The Durbecks have been running the program for a very long time and have it down to a science with a very high acceptance rate. Don't know anything specific about Randolph-Macon, other than it's a full academic year program. Go to both websites and read and compare. My DS attended NWP during their one of a kind online year in the Fall of 2020 and he's at USAFA now. They have a solid program and are highly recommended. Congratulations on receiving your golden ticket.

Agree with @Dad_2024 that NWP is different with regard to staunch military training and also not a full academc year there. My DD also attended Fall 2020 on-line so I can't relate our experience to actually being there, but the Durbecks were crucial to my DD's perserverence. The Durbecks are awesome and very wise.

Call Mrs. Durbeck at NWP and get a full briefing on the opportunity (do the same with your other options for that matter). You can also look at the data posted on the FF website and get a sense of how many FFS go to each school. Also, if you are planning to go to NWP, you might want to reach out to one of the civilian schools that accepted you for fall 23 and ask to defer your admission until spring 2023. It helps to have that in your back pocket while you plan what to do for the spring semester while at NWP. My DD chose a local community college, but other FFS chose to live at a university and have that experience. Either way, the goal is really about getting the appointment and showing up on I-Day 2023. Congrats.
