Hello,
I'm a rising senior in September, and I have a Field Force Interview in a few days. I was wondering if anyone. could give me any tips on how to execute my interview with confidence.
If you already did an interview, maybe you could share what questions you were asked and how you responded to them.

Thank you!

I think I already had mine? Is it the one where you meet your FFR for the first time? I didn’t even know it was an interview, I just thought she was being nice and wanted to help (which, I mean, not much different tbh).

But what we discussed was my resume, if I would be a good fit for USMA, if I was prepared to jump 20 meters into water (i forgot the exact height), how I should go about the application, etc. I honestly think they do those to see if you’re a good fit for USMA and if you’re prepared to go through 1. The process of applying, and 2. The challenges if you get in. They don’t want ppl quitting halfway. She also told me some funny stories.

For me it was pretty casual, at a local coffee shop, and she was in normal outting clothes (for a woman slightly older, which I feel like tends to be a little more formal than, say, a high schoolers normal outting clothes.) I wouldn’t suggest wearing normal outting clothes. I wore business casual.

Obviously, idk forsure if what I did worked or not, but we’re still emailing and she’s helping me with my application as well as notifying me of updates and events.

So, I would say just be honest. The mindset I had going into it was, if I’m not right for USMA, then it’ll be better for me AND West Point if she doesn’t see me as a good fit. Don’t try to “say the right things”, just be honest with your intentions, goals, background, etc. because (I’ve heard this from others, and I agree) they’re really trying to do what’s best for West Point, and if you’re a good fit they will help you achieve your goals. And if you realize you being honest sounds like it’s not for the right reasons, then maybe West Point isn’t the place for you (no rudeness intended). It’s a good chance to reflect on whether or not you’re in it for the right reasons.

Ok cool! Thank you very much. That helped a lot.

do i have to do my ffr interview if i did one at west point sle with one of the cadre? im completely confused because i dont even have an ffr in my portal, only a state coordinator. my malo did reach out to me tho and i responded but very confused on what im supposed to be doing in terms of an interview outside of the one for the nomination that will happen later in the year.

I think it’s just a good way to let your ffr know you exist and you’re motivated to applying. I’m pretty sure your ffr is in contact with WP, and I heard sometimes they’re on your congressional district nomination board (for reasons to stay in good contact with them). They are also very helpful with the application.

Idk about what you’re asking, and idk why you only have a state coordinator and not a district coordinator too. Maybe you can ask your malo. I honestly don’t fully understand the difference between FFR and MALO.
