DS just heard that he has been accepted to the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. UNF is the cross town affiliate of Jacksonville University (the host NROTC school.) Both are very close to Naval Station Mayport and the beach. We know mids in the program at JU and they love it. DS is VERY excited. He is still considering JU, but he seems to be really set on going to UNF for now. It's a 20 minute drive to JU from UNF . We have the Florida Prepaid tuition plan, so UNF should be affordable even without a NROTC-MO scholarship.
Also, for those interested, I heard a rumor that JU just was added to NROTC Preparatory Scholarship program last week. I don't have confirmation of this yet. But, that might be something to look at too. It would be an extra year at college. (I wish I could have spent an extra year in college.)
