BZ, Capt. Bauernschmidt.

The pick will take some heavy rolls from traditionalists because of the lack of TACAIR background. Given she was part of ‘94 and that first group able to go to combatants as a normal career path and has had to fight every battle since just to prove she could be in the same room, my money is on her to excel. It will be another door opened, and no big deal in a few years for those who follow.

From my Class Facebook page, the TACAIR barrier was broken by a helo guy long ago. Carrier command is impressive... BZ CAPT !
I think I knew that, but there are always curmudgeonly grumblers on the military aviation forums who will forget that it’s already been done.
Sadly, there are still a few out there who are still struggling with Women Who Wear Wings Of Gold.

Carrier command is just one of the best gigs around. I hope she enjoys every minute of her time in command, and gets those secret chills when announced on and off as “SHIP NAME, arriving.” I am sure she never thought as she sweated through her Plebe Summer, sweated in an unairconditioned Bancroft Hall, did her chow calls, marched in p-rades, pounded the books and threw her cover in the air after 4 long years on the Severn, she would be headed to command of a Navy aircraft carrier. 👏👏👏👏🥂

My Class of 80 cousin was a helo pilot and XO of a carrier but ended up not getting command. I don't know the full story but that was during the time of few non VF/VA types getting carrier command.

As 1/C DD commissions and heads to Flight School, I'm sure things like this make her feel like the sky's the limit.
