i was told that the Academy makes there first large selection the end of February. This would not be blue chip or elite candidates, but the large first grou[ping of candidates. Does anyone know when you would start to see appointments coming out? I was also told that the academy gives your MOC 72 hours to tell you before the portal changes to let you know. Any thoughts once decision are made, how long the processing and notifications take?

The director of admissions said that the appointments would start coming out the first week of March. I think big batches like this one take several weeks to fully notify everyone. The pattern seems to be Congressional notification Wed-Fri and appointments hitting the portal on Monday. Not sure if that will stay the same for this next big batch. She said that 50% of total appointments will be made during this time period.

End of Feb/Early March, and End of March/Early April are what I have been told for large pools.

Last year my DS was notified on Wednesday March 8 by our MOC and his appointment was present in his portal on Tuesday March 14. He was part of the “big” push for the class of 2027. The previous year, someone from his high school was notified in the same time frame, notification on Wednesday March 9, 2022 and portal the next Tuesday.

Unpopular opinion: it really doesn't matter and it is unhealthy to obsess over such things.

edit: I say this as someone who absolutely obsessed over such things when I was "going through it." I don't mean to disparage or put down.

I checked it every day, prayed 10 times day....first day I didn't check it (I was late to school) I opened my email and screamed, my poor poor computer teacher had his ears gone. There was my falcon scholarship. So was it worth it checking every day? Nope, alot of stress for a decision that was probably made in February. Enjoy senior year, trust me it's more enjoyable than you think, and I was in COVID.

I already told my boss that if one day I screamed so loud inside my office, it only means one thing - my DS received an appointment to one of the SAs. So I can totally relate lol :D

Do you guys also think they will have finished up processing everyone’s applications by then? I would assume that they would make a conscious effort to get most of the candidate kits through the processing phase so they can appoint a bunch at once. What do you guys think?

The last few years the large drop of appointments has been around St. Patrick's Day. My C2C received his on St. Patty's Day.

Will the Academy notify the MOC, and thus notify the candidate, if they are appointed via a nomination source that is not the MOC's? For example, does the MOC usually call a candidate who earned their congressional nomination but is appointed on a presidential nomination?

Depends on the MOC. You may here nothing at all from the MOC. Check the portal instead.

I received an appointment this year and never heard anything from my MOC. I found my gold envelope by checking my portal. A couple hours later I received an email telling me to check my portal.

Mine appeared in my portal in the morning and my Senator called that afternoon. So maybe it depends on timing and their availability to call because he may have known days before.
