Folding a flag so stars are parallel with case...?

Are there any tips on folding a flag so the stars are straight and not tapering down? We've looked online for tips on how to fold a flag so the stars end up straight and can't find anything. We know the proper way to fold it, but the stars do not end up parallel with the base of the display case. The picture below shows what I mean.

DS received a flag in recognition of his appointment and the mahogany display case arrived yesterday. He put it inside and asked to try to refold it so the stars are straight. We tried a few times but didn't really make an improvement. Is it even possible?

Is that a 5'x8' flag? I ask because the stars are huge. Normally, when I fold my 3'x5' flag, I don't run into this issue. Sometimes I have to stretch it a little to get that one star at the top, but I never have an issue with the stars not aligned, as it were.

It's a 3x5. We stretched, pulled, yanked, etc. the one star is at the top, but they all seem to lean downward like the one in the picture.
 
OK...maybe we're not being aggressive enough.

It's in its case now , but not on the wall of his room yet. Maybe we'll let it be for now and DH and I can give it a go next week...other fish to fry right now with only a few days left. 🥺

I attended a veteran’s funeral recently. At the graveside, the NG color guard twosome were having trouble with the flag fold, kept coming out not the best. After two tries, the observing senior NCO stepped in, issued quiet orders and made it happen. The junior NCOs were sweating bullets. You could tell they had practiced a lot, but the attention to detail starts at the absolute beginning of the sequence. You can’t correct halfway through.
 
I think after multiple tries and still not getting is straight, a little decanting is in order. Perhaps a nice Cabernet?
The flag won't be perfect, but it won't matter anymore.
