Football days with your plebe

@brovol, I’m having some trouble with math and could use your help. What’s 14 minus 3?
Don't they say, "only as good as your last game"? But if you want further evidence, feel free to look at the last three A/N games.

We are all equal. It just seems Army has been a lot "more equal" than the others lately. Just saying.....
Of course, Army and Navy compete against each other in more sports than just football. Ever wonder how the total rivalry goes? Its strange that you aren't talking about that.
Or maybe it isn't so strange. . .

Navy's Star-Game Record vs. Army, Last 23 Years (1996-97 to 2018-19)

@Love4monsters That is such a beautiful picture.
Have you seen this one from the Army v. Air Force Game in October 2018? See the Corps of Cadets is our Nation's Pot of Gold. <3
Last, how is your next one...(is it #3 or #4?) doing with his applications? Cannot wait to hear his great news.

#3 is going on his overnight this week and is hoping to hear news. It’s just a stressful this time! He has a 4 year NROTC and is hoping to hear from AROTC this week.

Thanks for asking!

@Love4monsters I saw the Overnight on the page. Please drive carefully on Tuesday morning. Hopefully everything will be cleared by then...at least on the major roads. You will want to check that the post is not a Code Red (or Code Black, Marine Corps uses Code Red--which never ceases to be a little funny..."Did you order the Code Red?") Prayers for the AROTC scholarship...the Army has so many more opportunities. <3

I’m going to pick up at that mic and share the number of Rhodes Scholars from universities. I am a huge sports fan but honestly, being a Rhodes Scholar is a prestigious honor. Academics always trump sports.

I’ll hold the mic for anyone else needing it! Ha! [emoji51]

Not quite double but pretty darn close. 93 USMA > 47 USNA.

It's all good. As I said, all equal. Just because Navy has lost the last three football games, and has been getting whooped by Army, doesn't necessarily make them "less" than West Point. You all still have a "fine" little academy. And anytime you want we will send some of our Rhodes scholars to Annapolis to explain how it is done.

You are right @Walman888
We have to be sensitive to the unique challenges of our brothers and sisters in arms: https://www.washingtonpost.com/spor...b4e4bb76a3a_story.html?utm_term=.38d1e3883f0a
No, not so much...
Army thinking says that one plans for facilities maintenance and management. Strategic vision and foresight would recognize that these Institutions themselves are living and dynamic entities. They require constant care, necessary repairs, and modern expansion as part of a carefully considered plan for the future.

While those fourteen consecutive wins on the Gridiron are a heady accomplishment indeed, perhaps they came at the cost of a mortgaged future....

When the collapse comes, USMA would like to welcome Bill E. Goat as a guest. There are numerous lovely spots about the post to graze.snow 2.jpg snow 4.jpg snow 5.jpg

The Spring, Summer, and Fall are so beautiful there. Really gorgeous views of the mountains and the Hudson Valley. (I mean, Fall football games are unbelievable for the foliage.) We used to summer at West Point (at a friend's oversized family house on post) when we were stationed overseas. The first year of winter as a plebe was a huge shock to #1, who had matriculated from the tropics-and it was a winter with single digit temperatures. He had only experienced snow on vacation. Not one to complain, he once asked, "Why couldn't they make it 'Key West Point'?" They call it the Gray Period for a reason, but it sure is pretty.

The Summer humidity was a slap in the face. We are from low humidity CA. R-Day 2018 was brutal. I will never forget walking out the front doors of the Thayer at 0510 on R-Day. Like walking into a sauna. Felt bad for my girl. I loved the cold of Thanksgiving.

I also have a DD and we made that same walk though the front doors of the thayer on RDay 2018. Maybe we will meet at PPW.

We'll be there. At the Thayer. Too bad the Zulu is closed until April. Gonna have to make do I guess....

You actually have @Capt MJ and @NavyHoops, two of the most dedicated and helpful people, active on the forum on this quiet Saturday afternoon.
I understand, and am delighted they are here. My point was there doesn't seem to be any USMA folks today on this USMA thread, and I still don't know if I will be able to see my plebe Saturday or Sunday after a home football game. Hope I can though, as I just ordered two tickets for the game against Rice, and booked a hotel for Friday and Saturday nights.
If they have a pass you will be able to see them. If they do not, they can probably come and talk to you at half time. Then they have to go back and sit with the Corps. At the end of the game they will go back and you will go home. It is not like college where they get the entire weekend off and can do anything they desire.
