Former Royal Thai Navy SEAL dies while volunteering in cave rescue...

Sad day indeed. That's the true definition of service before self. Fair winds and following seas shipmate.

Don’t know why this story is so compelling. It reminds me of the story of the Endurance or the rescue of the Chilean miners. They are stories of rescue and survival orchestrated by otherwise ordinary people. What a great diversion from the totally uninspiring timidity and bombastic chest beating that surrounds us,

The way the term “hero” is thrown around and the way thanks is given for service in such a profligate manner, the courage shown by PO Gunan and scores of others, many retired professional and ultra serious amateurcave divers is absolutely inspiring. They have nothing to gain other than the satisfaction of maybe saving some lives.

If you have a moment, spend a few minutes reading about the technical and logistical challenges facing the rescue. This is not your holiday resort dive in Cozumel drifting down the channel with the grouper.

They are in my prayers and I wish them Godspeed.

I read that the family has requested & was granted (by the King) a formal military funeral.
