Hello everyone. Yesterday I fully completed my USNA application and I emailed my admissions counselor to make sure that they were in receipt of everything. They said that they did not have my medical, however, I completed my medical and was deemed qualified almost two weeks ago by West Point. I am still a little concerned as to how I will get my medical information to the Naval Academy in a timely fashion. Keep in mind that my BGO interview was only yesterday, so that is not on file, which is probably stopping the Naval Academy from scheduling a medical for me.

I guess my question is if I will have to take any extra steps to be medically qualified for USNA even though USMA already qualified me. Also, how will I know when USNA requests a DoDMERB exam for me?

I’m sorry if this sounds vague; the DoDMERB process has been the one portion of the application that doesn’t make 100% sense to me.

Thank you so much for any advice you may have for me.

You were answered here, when you first inquired about the process 😬

Answer is still the same. USNA will request your exam, already completed, if they want to. Nothing to do on your end. DoDMERB is the clearing house for all SA’s/ROTC programs. Once you have done it, it’s done.

You have let them know it’s been completed. IMO, that’s above and beyond already. So no need to worry.

BTW….DoDMERB (and BGO interview) does not have to be completed for you application to be forwarded on for review.

Hang tight. It’s still early, and you’ll see that check mark ✔️ sooner or later.

yes, I’m sorry to ask again but my admissions counselor told me differently. She stated how I might have to do more medical processing because the Academies have different standards. Thank you for reassuring.

Your counselor and @JustDoIt are both right.

A passing DoDMERB exam is passing for all academies and ROTC programs.

However, if you did NOT pass but are being considered for a WAIVER, now each program (SA, ROTC etc.) has its OWN evaluation for granting or denying a waiver. For example, if someone doesn't pass DoDMERB due to a vision issue, USNA might deny a waiver whereas USMA might grant it (or vice versa).
