Much has changed since Union and Confederate forces met on these Pennsylvania farmlands 150 years ago in the bloodiest battle of the Civil War. Fighting would span three days in July and cause more than 46,000 casualties. Soon after the fighting was over, much of the battlefield began to return to its natural state. Today, administrators are using historic maps and modern technology to rehabilitate the landscape and restore the past.
