Hi everybody, I was wondering, during NAPS basic/plebe summer, are we allowed to use our own glasses or do we have to use their BCG's? Thanks!

To the best of my knowledge, you have to use BCGs. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Right on target. BCGs may look pretty dorky, but they are tough glasses. You never have to worry about breaking them as you go through all the Plebe Summer evolutions.

However, most companies will allow you to wear your civilian glasses towards the end of Plebe Summer for the "field trips." Those are the Orioles baseball game and Holocaust Museum/DC memorial tour. You'll also get your regular glasses back for Plebe Parent's Weekend.

Awesome, I believe big glasses are "in" nowadays, so I'm not worried .
Are we allowed to use contacts during plebe year?

Not during the summer, but definitely during the year. I started wearing mine right after Parent's Weekend.

Will USNA pay for contacts, or should I have my parents send some when they're allowed?

If you've never had contacts before, you can schedule an appointment to be fitted for contacts and they'll give you one pair free. Anything after that or if you already have contacts is on your own dollar.

Thanks. I didn't think that USNA would foot the bill, but I had to ask.
