Hello all. I'm a freshman in college (not a re-applicant; this is my first year applying) and I just got a nomination to USAFA. This is great, except that I struggled greatly during my first semester of freshman year. Partly due to illness, I got grades ranging from B's to one D in calculus 3. My high school record is pretty good, I graduated in the top 10% and had tons of leadership activities, as well as taking advanced classes etc. but it seems like my chances of getting in have been killed by my first semester.
I feel as though my chances of getting in have gone from decent to almost nil and I'm frankly very disappointed in myself. Do I still have a realistic chance? Should I not get an appointment I'd probably apply to OCS/OTS as my college doesn't have ROTC.
