8(ish) months until I commission? Something like that.

I successfully completed AC this summer, and now as long as I don't assault anyone/fail a class/get a DUI, I'll be a 2nd Lieutenant here in a little while!

The best advice I got this summer was the success of the Army depends on developing your peers. Everything is a competition, yes, but, it is adventageous for your peers to perform well. Why? I want my buddy who I'm sharing a foxhole with to be at the top of their game. If I can pass on info/knowledge to help them get there, it's to everyone's advantage.

Ask your questions!

Glad to hear you weren't apart of the 123 to start jk ;-)

Congratulations to you! I know we all can't wait to hear about you commissioning!

Did you pick a branch yet?

Best of luck going forward.
Right now, I'm 99% sure I'm going to branch Field Artillery. Maryland has already guaranteed me a spot, and I'm waiting to hear back from Virginia. There's a slight chance I could go Engineer and enter into a sapper company. That'll all depend on where I get a job!

Thank you!

Thank you! I'm excited to commission!

Yes, the 127 cadets who made the poor choice of cheating at land nav made land navigation for the rest of us a freaking nightmare. The guidance we received before running the course was: if you come back with anything written down that isn't on your map, you're a no-go and you're getting recycled. Never been so paranoid in my life.

As for the 127, they did not receive an NTR, but a "memorandum of concern" from their camp cadre to their school or something like that. Basically just a slap on the wrist.

I heard a few (maybe less than 15?) got dismissed from camp, but will be allowed to return next summer.

Did you hear that too?

I heard of lots of cadets getting sent home for busting tape, and as always any SHARP or EO cases get sent home.

Unfortunately CNN (cadet news network) always has conflicting reports of what really happened. I was a 6th regiment cadet, and when we did land nav we had cadets from 2nd regiment with us re-doing their land nav.

No questions - proud of you and your journey. You are a great model of perseverance. Best of luck and keep us posted as you continue down the path.

My DS is in the same class as you and finished up USMC OCS this past summer. Seems like yesterday when you both for seniors in HS!

And with that, @Jarhead713, you’ve captured the essence of leadership. It’s true whether you’re an officer or a civilian. True leaders lift others up, and in turn, those others will lift their leader up.

By the way, time to lose the “Junior.” You earned your Senior stripes long ago. 😉
