Has anyone's AROTC status been changed to Winner?

No - The scholarship is awarded to 3 schools (usually) in the list of 7 that was submitted. The applicant gets to determine which school they will accept the scholarship to. The schools have nothing to do with the process. Cadet Command awards the scholarships to the schools. Where we are in the process is Cadet Command finalizing the offers and aligning the offers with the schools.
Thank you EEBTTF!

EEBTTF-- so my son put down 7 schools. I understand a possible next step is for him to hear that he has a potential scholarship at lets say 3 of them. How are those 3 schools selected? Does the Cadet Command just take my DS's list and use the top 3 ranked schools or is the Cadet Commander connecting with all 7 schools and finding out which school have room and want my DS?

As I understand it, Cadet Command makes the choices independent of the schools. I think each school has an allotment of scholarships based on unit size. Most will get their top choices during the 1st Board. In later boards, schools may have already filled their quota and CC will not award anymore to that school.

Cadet Command will work with the students that are awarded a scholarship and wish to use that scholarship at a school that was not selected by CC. Once the portal updates to Winner, the applicant will have access to all the information they need regarding accepting and requesting a transfer to another school.

Thank you for this information. Once the status changes to winner in the portal does the candidate know the three schools or does that come in the mail ?

You’ll find out at the same time.

My status is still B/UC does that mean I go on to the next board or is there still hope of being changed to boarded?

You still have a chance of changing until the winner screens come out and some people have said they went from B/UC straight to winner. That might be because the screens didn’t change or they changed after the person last looked before going to winner.

Thank you! I'm stressing about the whole process lol does the SAT weigh a lot overall

Student, Athlete, Leader. All important and yes, standardized testing is very important. Especially on the 1st Board when most, if not all, of the scholarships are 4yr.

This year’s 1st board numbers seemed low. Thoughts?

No idea on percentage. In years past, approximately 25% of the awards are 4yr, 75% 3Yr. I will have to go back and see what the numbers on the 1st Board last year were.

As a caveat - 2020 is not a normal year, so numbers may be completely different.

my only thing low is my SAT but with this virus I could only take it once before the board.

so the winners don't know if they won yet until Thursday? Mine still says boarded.

My son's case exactly. Leadership, athletics, volunteer service out the wazoo. But mid-range ACT scores, after having tests cancelled March thru August. It is what it is.

Keep in mind this is just the first board and a smaller percentage of scholarships will be awarded. Many great applicants won’t see the “winner” screen until the 3rd board in April (my son was a 3rd board winner). It can be frustrating to have to wait but a 2nd or 3rd board scholarship, even a 3 year, it still a “winner” and worth the wait
