Has any one heard back from either Senator Inouye or Akaka?
The Animal:
Its 5 per congressional district, not individual congressman/woman. Those seats can turn over every 2 years (senators 6), so if every new person who got elected could have 5 of their appointees in an academy at a time, pretty soon the academy could be overflowing with appointees. So sorry, you're just one of the 5 nominees for now, but hopefully for you that will turn into an appt. by March!
Animal--In your earlier post, unless I misunderstood you, you said the person voted out (DJou) had nominated 5 people to USNA--including you--this year before leaving office. So the incoming MOC (Hanabusa) wouldn't need to nominate anyone--her turn will come in the fall/winter of 11/12. But I'm guessing that prior to this year, other candidates have been nominated and are attending the academy from your district (whether appointed by DJou or someone previously). THe limit is 5 people attending the academy at one time per district (or state if its a senator). If all 5 were appointed the same year from one district, it would be 4 years before that district could nominate anyone else (assuming no one drops out). Not good for constiuent relations. Is it still clear as mud?

petermcd-DS received USMA nomination to West Point from Akaka and Hirono. He hoped to get a nomination to Air Force or Naval too. But he received just his first choice, West Point. He is on the national wait list and keeping his fingers crossed.
