Just following up from this post:
    https://www.serviceacademyforums.com/index.php?threads/still-struggling-with-act.57460/

My DS did the SAT without any studying and got over the minimums! He is doing a major study course for the December 2nd test- so with that he should have big fat scores in time for the application deadlines!

Thank you to all who suggested that SAT may be a better fit for the kid- this is more of a relief than I can even explain to you all! (Just had to share my excitement...and huge relief! I am so proud!)

That's great and it goes to show that everyone should be taking both at least once. I was the opposite and did far better on the ACT but wouldn't have known unless I tried both.

I just wanted to throttle the beast. We, my husband and I, told him to just TRY the SAT and he was absolutely CONVINCED that the SAT would spell certain disaster for him. All this stress and acrimony simply because he wouldn't listen to us- argh! TEENS! They just know EVERYTHING*!

    *according to them, ahem.

My dad gave me a funny sign when I was knee deep with 4 teenagers.... It read "Hire a teenager while they still know everything"

Kids tend to do better on SAT because you get a few more minutes per section. If your son is going to retake the ACT I reccomend paying to have the score report sent to you. It was helpful for me. I raised math three or four points without doing much besides reviewing the report.
