I'm going to be a freshman this upcoming year in AROTC. I went and talked to the cadre and I recieved a on campus 3 year scholarship which I'm extremely thankful for, however when they asked me my major I said civil engineering. Recently I discovered my school has a construction management major and this sounds like it would be a better major for me. Do you think this would cause problems if I brought this to the cadres attention. To clarify I'm not on scholarships this year. Thanks to all of you on this site, looking at various questions about ROTC and reading the well crafted answers has been very helpful.

Your cadre are going to be your best source of information and guidance on this issue.

    ^this exactly.

But to calm your fears, which I know is what you are looking for here, you'll be fine.

Not saying that you shouldn't switch, but have you taken the time to ask yourself why you want to switch? You say that it sounds good. But have you researched this major, and it's career path afterwards?

Doing your research now can save you a lot of potential headaches down the road. Ie: if you later on figure out that you don't like the construction management major, and you decide to switch ... say after sophomore year, this get to be a bit trickier, depending on how the major is set up. You may potentially have to restart all over again if credits don't transfer to your new major, hence would screw up your commissioning date.

So - do your research. Seek out that source of knowledge and make an informed decision.

    Best of luck.
