When does USAFA post the Honor's list for 2017 Spring Semester? What I'm finding is what they call 2017 Spring Honor's list is for grades from Fall 2016 classes, if I understand correct.

I have heard from a very reliable source, that the Honor's list for the spring semester will be posted in August. The below is from the parent liaison :

Good afternoon,

I have been getting lots of requests for the Spring 2017 semester honors list. I checked and the list won't be available until August sometime.

As soon as it is available the list will be posted on the USAFA Parent Webpage under other helpful links. Currently the Fall 2016 semester is posted.

DD is at USNA, but was curious as to (a) don't the FERPA rules apply (b) if cadet/mid qualifies to be on the list - don't they have to provide consent for that information to be released?

Not looking to create an argument, but I thought all those records were confidential nowadays.

I know at USNA Mids can look up their Order of Merit, but wasn't sure if they could see anyone else's.

I don't think? I ever provided consent to be featured on the lists, but I could be mistaken. I see my name on the one currently published.

USAFA cadets can't see anyone else's order of merit, just their own.

Good question that I do not know the answer to, but rest assured, USAFA probably got consent somewhere in the myriad of papers the cadets signed. Well, at least I hope they did.

A Google search for FERPA , (the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) reveals this website as the #1 result. The 2nd sentence states, "The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education". So obviously the question is: do SA's receive funds from the U.S. Department of Education? I am going with the opinion that they don't so therefore, this law doesn't apply, but will be interested to read what other posters can find as to the source(s) of our SA's funding.
