Hopeful USMA Class of 2028 : a place to play the waiting game together.

Does admissions tend to go region by region? In the posted appointments list (which I know does not represent the actual population, only those who chose to post on SAF) there are very few appointments from our region. Most of the ones had an LOA, it seems. Of the 10 states in the region, 6 do not have one reported appointment yet, and 3 have only 1-3 appointments.
I do know that from speaking with our RC, they would do NJ only on Tuesdays, so it led me to believe they also did the Northeast on the same day. I don't know about other regions though. Then by Thursday night when the portal goes through it's maintenance time is when they upload the portals to any new appointments.

I do know that the earlier your file is complete (minus the nom) and you're placed on NWL, once you receive a nom, your file will be looked at in the order it was placed on the waiting list. Early bird gets the worm as far as easing any worries. Also, if your region is competitive and your Whole Candidate Score is close in numbers with another applicant, they will wait to see who's numbers rise from their 7th semester grades. DS received his appointment earlier without an LOA because he was significantly higher than other applicants who received noms, and he was very early in being placed on NWL.

When DS received his appointment, they went over his file on a Tuesday, got the call from the Congressman the next day on Wednesday, then the portal updated by Friday morning. Hope this helps!

Thanks for your insight. It's very frustrating, as my early bird had his app completed in early August and just waiting for a singular waiver from USMA (that 2 other SA's and 2 ROTC programs already approved). I feel like his app is just caught up in foreverland! My DS has patience, it's ME that doesn't! lol

Poor parent, felt the same pain with you three months ago. Did he have appointments from other SA? Good thing is your DS is calm. If he has plan BCD, you should relax.

How is it possible that your chances of getting off the NWL are probably not good? As I learned every Triple Q'd candidate with a NOM are in NWL. Isn't it correct?
Thank you! In talking with my BG officer and my WP rep they both told me that my district was considered a competitive one for all three academies but the highest interest was for Navy. I just hope that because I was the winner of the slate for AF that I have to be relatively high on the list for WP. I mean not to play myself up but I received an award from there SLE (which I think in my ALO interview with AF really boosted me). But whether I get all three or just Air Force, just having Air Force is huge for me.
Your academic achievements are commendable, especially with the SLE award. I recommend considering a retake of the ACT or SAT to enhance your profile. While individuals in less competitive states might fare well with lower scores, in highly competitive states, it's common to see ACT scores of 32 and above or SAT scores of 1500 and above. In our region, many successful applicants have scores in this range.

That doesn't make sense - you can't get 2 noms from one MOC. Can you clarify? Is it 1 nom from MOC and 1 nom from Senator?
It is possible. When MOC doesn’t have enough candidate, they will give two nomination to the same one. Or they have three to the same candidate for three SA he apply. All are possible. However, the principal nomination is the deal breaker, deemed to go if he qualified.

Does your spot on the NWL depend on when you were 3Q'd? Outside of the call from my state coordinator, I have no communication in my portal about being on the NWL and I was 3Q'd in early September.

Thank you-- no other appointments so far. In looking at the lists (which I know are just a glance at the actual appointments), I have seen 1 appointment for only 1 SA from our state. Funny. He does have AROTC from 1st round and NROTC-MO secured. Thank you!

Sorry to hear you've been waiting so long for the waiver to process! I completely understand though, I was the inpatient one and DS was cool as a cucumber! Best of luck!!

Yes, from what I was told. Did you have a nomination from anyone in September? DS had a JROTC nom so I figured that's why he was placed on NWL so early.

Troy7824: Was your DS advised by USMA that he was placed on the NWL immediately after receiving the JROTC nomination?

I didn't receive my MOC Nomination until late November and I received my Senatorial Nomination in December. Slates were decided in December and January.

My DS got a 3Q letter in October, then recieved noms after that. He was also wondering if he was on the NWL. He emailed admissions and asked, a few days later they said to check his portal. There was a letter there for being fully qualified and on the NWL.

So maybe once they get to your file they can determine whether or not to place you on NWL or give you an appointment immediately.

I was told by my FFR that I was on it (she doesn't know where I am on it though) but still no official communication. I'll probably hear something official here soon with WP reaching peak appointment season.

I received my 3Q and on NWL notification last Thursday and Nominations two weeks before that. What is the expected turnaround time/when should I expect a response?

Congradulations! From now to May, all possible.
