Hopeful USMA Class of 2028 : a place to play the waiting game together.

Where in the portal do they see that type of status, because mine just has my checklist of things on the right, and then a "100% Packet Complete" or something like that, on the left hand side, but it doesn't say my status (under review, qualified, not qualified), nothing.
We have all green arrows on the right side but nothing about being 100% complete on the left. Only communication has been a letter that we here qualified physically and academically in the Fall and then a letter stating waiver was approved and we were medically qualified . Never received anything else. Would this mean the application hasn't been completely reviewed since the waiver was granted 3 months ago?

In the event I'm rejected, I understand someone from admissions can review my application with me to discuss weak points. I've heard that the regional commander usually does this. Is that correct? I was considering emailing preemptively so that I can set up a time before he gets flooded with requests.

Also, is it considered bad form or annoying to email the RC to inquire about my status/chances?

You can...but you will know before 1 May...your Regional Admissions officer may have more time for you after 1 May. . .

So the few of us that are waiting....are you on the NWL already or still dealing with DQs? DS received the NWL letter back in February. We were in waiver limbo by proxy, which I think has been cleared up now. Wondering if all the spots are already taken while we waited.

We are also on the waitlist. I think it means they looked us over, and while we were qualified, we weren't good enough for a yes at that point. We are essentially their plan B or backfills for anyone who declines.

my DS has been on NWL since January, medically cleared since last summer and so we wait. I'm losing hope now, but he is still holding out..

Well my DS was on the NWL. Turned down in February. Then a VP nom showed up in his portal over a week ago. So we are back in the waiting game to see what that means.....if anything. His FFR says he received the VP nom because they are trying to find a place to put him when declines come in. I guess someone changed their mind. Lol

Still waiting. My son got an email from admission yesterday asking whether he is still interested. He is not on NWL but fully qualified
that's interesting....maybe that means something good. Ive read that sometime they don't send a NWL letter even when you are on it.

I've been following his story & hoping he gets in! Please keep us posted!

I haven't seen a big purge of turn downs like the other academies have done. There seems to be a lot of people still waiting. Good luck everyone!

I've mostly lurked on these forums, but have been following this thread for a while. DS is 3Q with no mention of NWL, but it sounds like those letters may vary by region. Based on discussion with his FFR, we're hoping he's being considered for a sponsored civilian prep program. Until then we keep moving forward with Plan B!

Thanks. All of that makes sense. Looking at previous years of self reporting, it appears that about 10% of the class shows up annually on the forum. It seems they are aiming for a class of 1220+/- based on the internal email posted here. So, the sense is that Admissions send out say 1500 (wild guess) appointments based on annual stats, anticipating a capture of around 1220 cadets. I assume what you are saying is that if declines are trending higher than expected, and they sense a shortfall, they will send out a few more appointments in the next two weeks to shore up the Class? I assume that also means if their projections are correct at this point, those still on the NWL should probably be prepared for a TWE?
At this point, there can be any number of scenarios in play. The puzzle changes each year.

It’s good news, in a way, if people haven’t heard anything - they are still in play. It is also true the number of appointments available are inexorably declining - hence the standing advice to tend alternate plans. The SAs are blessed to have an overflowing pool of fully qualified, high-quality candidates to choose from. It’s only been recently they’ve publicized the end-of-cycle waitlist, but that makes sense. Surely they have been keeping a running list of candidates they would like to have, but there hasn’t been room, and if some room opens up, they turn to that group. Now at least they know if a waitlister has indicated they want to be on the waitlist.

I didn’t directly answer your question, because I can’t. Every candidate should be mentally prepared for a TWE from process start, as a matter of common sense.

Yeah, admissions process for me with USMA has been weird the whole way through. There was even a period of time where they wouldnt let me into my account and failed to respond to multiple emails requesting help via until I received my Nominations in November. The last communication from USMA was early January; 3Q and NWL (Have both Primary MOC and Pres, so not sure why the wait list). I thought I would hear from them by 15 APR like USNA, but have been met with radio silence. I accepted an appointment to USAFA already, but am still curious what USMA's decision is and what has taken them so long.

What region are you?

Sitting with an LOA, 3Q, two noms. Was told my appointment was going to be sent out at the end of February. Nearing the end of April... I've reached out to every contact with admissions and either have gotten zero response or have been told that it takes time...
