Has any heard how the Command Inspections and Physical tests have gone? What perks if any will they get if it goes well, or badly for that matter? How many points is Ironman Status? ( older threads from 2009 give differing opinions) How is the class of 2015 shaping up against recent previous classes? Did Danny D. show up? Feel free to answer any of the above questions. :shake:

I'll answer these as best I can,

We had Class A inspection last weekend, same standards as Command, but it's graded by first class midshipmen. Think of it as a tune up for the real thing. The real thing [Command Inspection] is Saturday. There are a large number of hours Friday devoted to cleaning various spaces, with inspection of some spaces beginning as early as tonight. All plebes must log considerable time on the floor buffer, anywhere from 1-3 hours. No one knows for sure what perks if we do well, most likely rack in, meaning we can shut our doors and sleep during the day. Also the most appropriate as many will be up in to the early hours of the morning cleaning. All of these things depend on company. There are a lot of safeguards in place to make sure we all do well, and lets just not talk about what would happen if we don't do well.

Danny Dutton is here! But as I'm sure you can imagine there is a story there, and we must wait till' another day to tell it.

I think... Iron man is 270 but I can't be sure.

I want to find Danny D next week on my visit. If I happen to shadow him, I need to meet his lizard:biggrin:

Inspections

Not too long into his first trimester, my DS asked for a sleeping bag. Doesn't KP provide linens and blankets (I thought)?? I was worried that he was cold. He assured me that he wasn't-- the sleeping bag was so that he didn't have to make his bunk up every day for inspection. Your DS/DD will find ways to "make it work."

In the olden days before AC in the barracks, one could sleep on top of his bunk without breaking it open. Upperclassmen would still make us "unmake" the bed at night anyway. If he has a sleeping back, I wonder where he hides (hid) it during the day. There were some that would look for short sheeted beds during inspection and hand out demerits for any found.

Of course short sheeting someone else's bed for entertainment value was another thing.

DS (2015) sleeps on top, using only foot blanket. After I have asked repeatedly, "do you need a blanket, do you want a sleeping bag, a hammock (seriously), a sheet mummy thing" , nope, nope nope. Would take too much time.

DS took a travel sleeping bag with him- it was thin but warm and rolled up in to a small bag that fit into one of his personal drawers.... Think we got it at a place like REI.
