How do acceptances come out?

I have a close friend who is applying to USAFA with me and we are both anxiously awaiting our letters of appointment. When the appointments come out, will our whole district's come out at once? Like our congressman has one slot but I have the presidential also. So say we were to both get in, would we know at the same time? If one of us gets in and the other doesn't, is that a tell tale that the other was not accepted?

I doubt it.. USAFA uses a rolling deadline so it is likely your deadlines and/or the dates you completed the application differ, and therefore the date you would get reviewed would be different.

No.

If you're selected, USAFA/RRS will send you a "letter" in your portal. They send them out in groups as a board concludes so you may or may not have others in your district find out at the same time.

Do they review applications in the order that they were submitted?

No. Completed applications of 3Q candidate are reviewed "at the pleasure of the board." Those are my words. They're reviewed in groups when scheduled by the admissions folks. It's "as they clear" and not by date of receipt.

Patience folks...this is THE HARDEST part!!

In the AF flying world we have a phrase, not terribly family friendly, that applies: "Embrace the Suck!"

You just have to endure and press ahead.

Trust me, I know how hard it is; I went through this process TWICE!!

Greetings from da YOOP/ Copper Country again, super flieger83. My son got the TWE from WP yesterday. He was 3q on the NWL but alas. USNA still pending but probably not that likely as he only has a service connected nom there (from an Army JROTC). Just wanted to say a quick thank you for all your input on this forum and for keeping all candidates, and especially the reapplicants encouraged with your own story. Thank you!

Oh shoot...that's never a good letter to receive; I know, I received a bunch of them as a HS senior.

Still, it's not the end of the world; the AJROTC "could" come through...long odds, to be honest but...

Is he in the running for any ROTC scholarships?

And then...there's next year...

Said the guy that did that, the "next" year.

Is this just for USAFA, or for other Academies such as USMA?

Steve, He's got a full four year AROTC scholarship at Michigan Tech from the first board and Michigan Tech is throwing in full room and board. So it's a pretty solid back up plan, just not as much of the wow factor as a SA since it's only 20 miles from home. Secretly, the girlfriend and I both aren't THAT crushed that WP didn't work out (for selfish reasons, of course). lol
