How do you pass the CFA? What performance scores would you need for each event if you are a male?

The CFA is a pass/fail. All the scores you need to see like average, minimum, and maximum are on the USMMA website

The minimum passing scores are not made available. Try to exceed the average scores on each event listed on the USMMA website, and you will be fine. Be sure to take the CFA early. Between your junior and senior years is good. You can get it out of the way and avoid risking an injury and not being able to get it done. Good luck!

Practice over and over and over. There are videos on YouTube that can help you with techniques. Make sure to practice the basketball throw.

As others have posted, the data is there and there are plenty of resources to help you be successful. If the MAX and AVERAGE scores are posted, assume that the passing line is below AVERAGE, but those figures are not published.

My favorite resource for prep is Mountain Tactical Fitness. This team has created videos and training programs to help SA candidates in preparing for the test.

If you want a 6-week training plan to take you from never doing this stuff to being solid (assumes you do the work), they sell a fitness plan. I am not affiliated with this group, but am a happy customer:

Are your CFA scores used to compare your fitness level to while you are at the academy? for example do they care if your score drops/rises between applying and showing up?

No. Once at the academy you will never take the CFA. You will take a fitness test every term with running, sit-ups and push-ups. If you fail that, you will be put on a fitness/diet regimen. You then retake it the next term. If you fail it again, you are at risk of being disenrolled.

Thank you!

So, they don’t complete the CFA during Indoc? Also, what’s the swimming component like? Is there a test for that too during Indoc? My daughter is in NJ and has no way of brushing up on treading water. I can’t imagine we will have pools open this summer, even in AL, where our nutty governor wants to fling the doors of the state wide open yesterday 🙄
