DS finally was able to get his PE teacher to re-administer the CFA today (only 3 days left!). He took it last year and did okay, but this time maxed every score except the run (8:05...ugh).

First, how does the PE teacher resubmit the score, when the portal doesn't seem to allow her to? Or at least what is the fastest thing DS can do to get this in? (Everything else is complete including MOC nomination).

Second question, is the 8:05 an automatic fail, when he maxed every other drill? Or is this an impossible question to answer?

Have DS retake it tomorrow.

an 8:05 mile if he maxed everything is not bad at all. I was in a similar position, I didn't max the other areas but I did well so my 7:40 mile wasn't an issue. I would call the admissions officer and tomorrow as soon as possible and ask what to do. That is very impressive he maxed everything else. I believe USNA focuses the most on pushups, curlups, and the mile. I think your DS is in a good position!

Have him call admissions and ask to speak with his Regional Director (aka Admissions Counselor that is listed on portal). Email will take too long since there's only a few days left. RD will reset the link to send in the CFA results, and then your DS can re-send the link to his PE teacher.

Not sure if that run time is a failure or not. Agree its best to call. USNA does not release the minimums, but certain folks can see if they passed. Even if he maxed the other two parts, a failure on one portion will result in a CFA failure. Agree, retake it again in the next few days and really concentrate on the run. An 8 minute mile is pretty slow and hopefully this is a little bit of an eye opener for him. A passing PRT for a male Midshipmen is a 10:30, 1.5 miles. His run time currently puts him at a 12:00, 1.5 miles which barely passes the female minimums. Good luck to your DS, hopefully it was a bad day and he can bring that time down a good 30 seconds or so.

That run time should not be a failure. DS (now an Ensign) almost maxed everything else and had an 8:13 mile. He's a sprinter (think running back) not a runner. Anyway, he passed and was appointed, and is now a graduate.

Call and Email your RD RIGHT AWAY. They will need an email with the contact info of PE teacher so USNA can send the PE teacher the link to input scores. My DD just retook hers last week and this is the process she had to go thru. USNA can't upload scanned in scores. The PE teacher must do it, but USNA has to reset the portal and send PE teacher the link.

Thank you everyone!

DS was going to call back east (we're on the west coast) this morning, but his RD replied to the email last night and re-opened the portal. I guess they are working overtime with the deadline looming.
Falconchic, thank you for the encouraging news regarding your ensign DS! My DS is a soccer goalkeeper, 100m sprinter, and a pole vaulter. The mile is not his strength.
