How may a MIP ticket affect an ROTC scholarship?

Hello all, I'm going to be a junior in high school this fall, but I've already been thinking about college. I am hoping to get an AFROTC scholarship. However, in August of my sophomore year, I got a drinking ticket. I did a diversion program and I now have a clean record. I took a peek at the AFROTC application and they specifically ask if you've gotten any MIPs even if they're not on your record anymore. When I say yes, and explain myself, how will this affect my chances to receive any sort of scholarships, specifically one for AFROTC?

It can affect you, because if it comes down to 1 last scholarship and you both have the exact same score, this will play into the equation.

NOW...keep your nose clean, get great grades, strong SAT, strong EC's and they will probably say HE WAS STUPID AND YOUNG...MOVE ON! Get another ticket and the fat lady will be starting to warm up her pipes!

You will have to explain the situation. Don't lie, don't sugar coat, just state the facts and acknowledge your youthful indiscretion.

You are not the first. You won't be the last. Just realize that you may need to work harder than your peers to overcome this mark.

More importantly, remember the AFROTC scholarship board is only one part of the equation, many colleges also require you acknowledge this in your application. Both our children had to do this when applying to all of their schools.
