Does anyone know where I can find a video online that demonstrates how to fold socks so they smile? They showed us at AIM, but I never really mastered it and forgot the steps.
Thanks:smile:

Video, no.

But...

1. Put the socks side to side
2. Roll them up from the toe to the top
3. Take ONE sock (the outer one) and fold it over the other to make a ball
4. Smooth out the "smile" and you have it done!!!

lol, wow,

I have got to watch this thread. I want to see that video also. Should be a good watch.

You keep two permanently folded in case some one inspects and is that big a stickler about smiling socks. The rest you keep in a bag unfolded.

Nope, during inspections, sock drawers are inspected. In your laundry bag, you may have TWO days worth of laundry. If your cadre find only two socks in the LARGE drawer under your rack where socks are stowed, you've got some explaining to do.

Actually what Steve Holt explained sounds very much like "Attempt to Deceive", which yes, is an honor offense. Make your socks smile, stow them all and you'll be fine. If you have two days worth of socks in your laundry bag, you'll be ok too.

DO NOT try to deceive your cadre or 2/c.

Next time I'll put "facetiously" brackets around my statement so you don't get so wound up. I should have made it more obvious.

Do what one of my roommates did: keep a bunch folded and wear the same two pairs every day.

I'm not spun up...just want to make sure you aren't giving any future swabs "bad info" about inspections. In the past demerits was rained down during inspections, with a few honor offenses mixed in. It's best it all those future swabs avoid that pain. :thumb:

haha i remember i had sooo much trouble with it for some reason. Had one of the girls in my AIM company show me and now i do it out of force of habit.

Inpections everyweek must become a real pain. I am sure there are ways that cadets come up with to make readying one's gear much easier.

Yes, like being yelled at for not doing it until it becomes second nature.

No lie, I still have smiling socks at my house and fold my shirts, shorts, underwear the same way....

it will become part of you...and at some point it may even just feel "right."
