I'm not in the military or attending an academy myself, but I am overwhelmingly proud of my boyfriend, who is currently a plebe at USMMA! (Fingers crossed we make it into the 2% Club!) I'm very blessed in that his mother and I have particularly hit it off, and the whole family makes a point of including me wherever possible. For instance, my boyfriend got to come home with the Fanfare Squad yesterday, and not only did they invite me to dinner, they also paid for my meal and drove well out of their way to take me home at the end of the night. I can't thank them enough for including me in their family time with him; it truly means the world to me.

I also have a friend in the Army who has gone on tour in Afghanistan twice in the past 3 years, another friend that recently completed basic for the Navy, and a third friend that signed his contract with the Air Force a few weeks ago. As far as family military involvement goes, my grandfather flew bomber planes in WWII, my [so-many-great's]-grandfather was a sailor in the Navy, and my cousin has the potential to be accepted into the Navel nuclear program in the next year or so. I have great respect for their dedication to their country, and I am so proud to know all of them!
