If you don’t hear back by 4/21, you didn’t receive a direct appointment correct?

Correct. I emailed my ALO and she said that USAFA admissions will work on prep school and Falcon Scholar slots into May.

So if you don’t hear back past 4/21, you’re getting either the falcon scholarship or a prep slot?

I'm VERY curious where this date came from? Can anyone point me to a "formal" or "definitive" statement from USAFA/RRS?

I ask because I'm an ALO, and in my many years of service, I've never been given a date by USAFA/RRS that said: "this is the date, after this...no more direct appointments, just PS, etc."

I will say this: it's late in the cycle. If you haven't heard yet...yes, time is getting short and it would be smart to look at your "Plan B" option and see what is needed to execute that. However...until you receive an email that says "check your portal" and that has a letter saying "we're sad to inform you..." then you're not out of the running. At the same time, I'm not trying to buoy hopes falsely; it's LATE in the cycle...the odds are getting VERY long.

I'll go back through messages...but as I said, I don't recall seeing anything official from USAFA/RRS that says "April 21st is the day..."

I dont know if this is accurate. I'm assuming there's going to be a big wave this Tuesday the 21st. It makes sense that there will still be kids that decline their appointments in this wave, and then there will be a trickle of appointments given out later than the 21st. There isnt a hard date, it's impossible given the situation. Are the odds going down? Of course. But you cant jump ship until you get a "No"

This is the direct quote from the portal:
"IMPORTANT NOTE – While the Air Force Academy is currently closed to visitors, the Selections Division in the Office of Admissions is open and processing applications. For current candidates to the Class of 2024 we expect to have decisions out for direct entry into the Academy by the 21st of April. We will continue to work offers to the Preparatory School and Falcon Foundation into May."

On the USAFA Online Application Portal, there is a note as follows:

Excellent, thank you! I missed that, pure and simple and that's why the question.

I also had one of my candidates (he's on here) text me the same thing.

I was also wondering if getting a TWE means your are out of the running for either prep or falcon scholarship. Anyone know?

On the candidate portal it states that everyone should be informed by the 21st.

FACT: Unless you've confirmed with an Admissions counselor...."we expect to have decisions out for direct entry into the Academy by the 21st of April." is just that, an expectation. There are NO expectations under these circumstances. I have just emailed RRS to see if that expectations remains :wiggle:
