Immediate Selection Decision

Hi,

Would anybody of you guys know if ISR results with top school choice assignment have already been awarded? I understand from your postings that there was no board last August. There probably was one in September. We are now mid-October. There should be awarding of those big checks soon? Would you have that kind of information?

One more question, not about ISR or ISD. I want to confirm if the scholar has to pass the physical fitness test on her first year in college or before entering college? What happens if he/she doesn't make it to the physical fitness test? He/she has to pay back the scholarship money spent on him/her?

Thanks for your time, guys?

I think everything is held up by the shutdown. I wouldn't expect to hear for some weeks yet as a result. The physical fitness test must be passed during the first semester of freshman year. No money will flow until the test is passed so there would be nothing to pay back. If the test is passed, then there would still be no obligation to repay until first day of classes of sophomore year.

DD just received her NROTC 4-yr ISR scholarship to her 1st choice school! Thank you so much, guys, for all the guidance. Am sure, I will be asking more questions.

Congrats! Someone start an official NROTC acceptance thread

Congratulations! It's always nice to be attending one's first choice school. I really think it makes a difference. OTOH, everything is what you make of it! Make sure she keeps working out and don't let senioritis set in. :thumb:

As you know, the ISR into one's top choice school doesn't guarantee automatic acceptance to one's top-choice school. DD is still working on, editing and editing her essays while saddled with 5 AP's. At her school, students enrolled in AP courses have to sit down for the exams in May. Unlike in other schools wherein students take AP courses to bump up their GPAs (for the multiplier) and then opt not to take the exams at all. DD's top-choice school is an Ivy League. But as I said, she still has to apply and get accepted to this school. Fingers crossed. Thank you, guys! This forum is great!

And yes, the real challenge is when she starts college on NROTC scholarship and doing all that balancing act!
