What is the date of Indoc this year?
Wecome aboard to all the new Plebe Candidates and their parents!
The ride begins on Thursday, Good luck to all.
Good luck to all the class of 2014! I will be watching the Barney Square Webcam on Thursday (It should be more exciting than last year when it was a mud hole)
Oh yeh! The Barney Square Webcam. Remember the one down by the dock too! Keep under the radar 2014, remember the F word, FOCUS, be humble and work as a team. There are no individual stars at KP, but there is one hell of a constellation at work!! And ask for help, do not tarry with that. Get academic help right away. Moms and dads, you have a great forum here to turn to. Use it. It's a great teaching and suport tool. GO KP! Acta Nonverba.
Here is the direct link to the Barney Square webcam. You can decide on the size and take a picture of the output.
Here is the link to the waterfront webcam:
These are both better than trying to watch through the school site.
Good Luck All!!!
If there are any requests I can change the view on the waterfront camera a bit........
If you can match Barney Square, that would be the best! Thanks....
deepsea, wondering if they will take the Grinder web cam down for INDOC this year as in the past? Gotta love a good lunch muster. The Waterfront cam will operate as usual? I will send Hershey bars. WITH almonds - if you guys leave it on. Just checkin'.
All thoughts with the class of '14 on my end. I have super secret special powers so......
GO GIT R DONE '14!!!
It's on a fixed mount in my office, so it can't see Barney Square.....
The big day is here. Good luck to 2014 and their parents.
The weather for Indoc last year was unusually cool. I feel for those Plebe candidates this summer.
Many people say Indoc is the easiest part but others say in some ways, it is the hardest part- the one thing they NEVER want to repeat. Most important thing is that it IS doable!!
Drum Roll please ..... Introducing the USMMA Class of 2014 .... dat dat dat DAH....
I wonder what USMMA2014 is wearing to report aboard in...
Seriously, 2014 parents get ready for the "great unplug" and stalking the picture post daily to catch a glimpse of what your DS/DD did "yesterday". It's been said before but I'll say it again -
Top 3 Rules For KP Parents:
1) Be Calm and Supportive, Even When Your Not Sure What They Are Talking About - Be Calm and Supportive. Your DS/DD is likely to be confronted with at least one or more soul searching "What did I get myself into? Why am I here? This is way harder than I think it should be...this can't be worth it ... those upperclassman just say stuff like that because they are all fools drinking the KoolAid" moments, over the next 120 - 180 days. Through them all just remember as mature as they seem they are probably still to some degree the emotional and impatient young adults you dropped off, only now they are more than a little stressed out and sleep deprived. They may need your understanding, support, unconditional love, and calm, reasoned voice now more than ever at times.
2) You may not understand what they are talking about, but they do, and it's all exceptionally real to them because between now and recognition (a long way off from today to them) - they will be living it 24/7 with really nowhere to go hide and get away from it all, except those occasional liberties like Thanksgiving, etc. So especially during this Plebe Year when you see them cut them some slack and let them set the agenda. For example don't be surprised if for the upcoming parents weekend all they really want to do is get off campus, out of uniform, have a good meal/steak, and then sleep in a comfortable civilian bed in your hotel until some late hour like 9:00AM... The transformation to "Kings Pointer" starts today for the Class of 2014 and you'll be surprised at how fast it takes hold.
3) When in doubt relative to giving them advice tell them their priority should be to ensure they take care of their academics first.
Believe me when you are searching for what to do in 95% of the situations you'll be looking at over the next 48 months these three rules are likely to apply in some way, shape or form.
Welcome aboard and remember to participate actively and stay engaged during the weekly lifeboat drills.
Yes and introductions to DIs is on Webcam!!!
Darn- last year our DSs were hidden behind fencing because Barney Square was the mud pit.
The webcam is so cool, especially since my DS is far away on the deep blue sea for sea year
Interesting - a bit of a throwback - this is where and how things used to be - initial reporting and assembly of the newly reporting Plebes on Barney Square way takes me all the way back to July 1978 vice the way it was in 2008 when our DS reported in via the processing line in O'Hara Hall ...
Should be interesting to see what other subtle changes will be creeping their way back into the Indoctrination process and program while the word Merchant is put back into the moniker....
Separate names with a comma.
