Inspire Program

One mystery is how USNA selected the invitees. My son has not even submitted the NASS application yet (started).
I am wondering the same thing. My son was also invited and then asked to complete the NASS application (which he already had completed prior to the email invite). No clue why he was invited, but certainly excited to attend.

DS just received a similar email about how applying NASS is the next step, which he had done already. There was nothing about essay or a conference call. Not sure what to expect at this point.

All the applicant can do is not overthink anything and complete all applications to the best of their ability in a timely fashion. I know it’s hard to digest and make sense of. But it is true.
You have to let the chips fall where they may and control what the applicant can.

My DD was also invited to apply for the inspire program. She replied. A few days later they asked her to complete the NASS application which she had done already prior to the email invite. Yesterday she received an email with a link to set up a date for an interview where she would have to attend it with one parent. Has anyone already go through the interview process? I am wondering what this entails and what the experience was like if you participated.

My DD and I attended the Inspire weekend last September. I HIGHLY recommend your DD/DS fill out the required form and submit the essay! I found this forum last year when I was trying to confirm that it was a legit program. It'll be an amazing weekend that your DD/DS and you will never forget! We have no idea how my DD was selected to apply but I'm so glad that she did. The only downside is that the USNA became her top choice after the Inspire weekend and it got her hopes really high. It's like a recruiting weekend where they're trying to convince them and the parent(s) that they belong at the USNA - my DD and I were both like WE'RE READY TO SIGN TODAY! LOL Seriously, you will not regret it! We met kids/parents from all over the states! Everything is paid for if your DD/DS is selected to attend (regardless of where you live)!

DD really enjoyed and did well at NASS last June. She was invited to apply (essay required) and attended the Inspire Program in September 2022. It is an excellent, well organized event put on by incredibly talented officers who truly make you proud of America. The Academy pulled out all of the stops to attract excellent, diverse candidates who fit the USNA best and brightest model.

Attached you will find our 'Parents Schedule of Events.' The 'drag' schedule was similar to CVW except when the candidates joined up for group events with parents. We attended a Noon Meal Formation, observed the Parade, and had special speakers at the Friday night Inspire Dinner where 2 LOAs were distributed. After all of the candidates taking the CFA, we were treated to attend the Saturday Navy Football game. Message us if you have any questions.

TYVM for posting this. We have our zoom call coming up for Inspire. and trying to get details on this program is a little difficult. Just for clarity, am I understanding correctly that most if not all that attended Inspire received an LOA?

TIA

Thank you so much for sharing your amazing experiences at the inspire program. I really appreciate it.

My DD is a junior in high school. She just recently applied for the summer seminar then a few days later she received invited to apply for the inspire program. As I mentioned in the previous post, they only asked her to complete the NASS application which she had done already prior to the email invite. Then she received an email with a link to set up a date for an interview where she would have to attend it with one parent. To my knowledge, there is nothing about essay indicated in the emails she received.

She has a zoom interview scheduled at the end of this week. Has anyone already gone through the interview process this week? I am wondering what this interview is all about ?!

I didn't have an interview during my application process for the September version, but some general tips I'd like to offer for your DD to prepare is to get ready to talk about herself, why she is interested in the Academy, and stuff like that. Be concise, clear, and confident.

I also definitely agree with what @hopefulmominva and @Trainer said. The Inspire Program is an incredible opportunity and it's wonderful in all its facets. Easily one of my favorite highlights of 2022.

While I was attending, I heard from another one of the attendees that they also heard that quite a handful of the attendees will receive an LOA at some point. I don't know how true that is, but I wouldn't worry about it because, in the end, it doesn't really matter. I did not receive an LOA but just recently got my appointment.

If you would like some further details about my own experience of the September Inspire, feel free to pm me.

Same here…there was nothing about essay. A couple days ago, my DD received another email with a link to set up a date for a zoom interview where she would have to attend it with one parent. This step is after the NASS step. She has an interview scheduled at the end of this week.
At this point, ask your son to send them another email to follow up. I hope he will hear from them real soon.

I am pretty familiar with Zoom but last June, when preparing for a Zoom job interview, I made sure I was good to go ahead of time.

My internet can be wonky, so I reserved a study room at the local college.
I had not one, but two outfits ready (in case of last-minute stain/wrinkle, dog hair).
I downloaded a professional neutral Zoom background and had it installed and ready to go.
I got to the study room one hour early and Zoomed my daughter to test sound and lighting.

Now, this is not to say you have to do all of that. But it is wise to test the sound, connection, and lighting ahead of time. And it is wise to plan a quiet space in the house where you can have the interview.

It must have been the right thing to do as I was offered and I accepted the job. Now, my commute is about 20 feet to my home office. Good thing DS got into USNA so I could hijack his room. ;)

I only saw one LOA handed out during the Inspire Weekend. It was amazing to witness! Unfortunately, my DD has not received an LOA, and her application is still under review. She only obtained one nomination (USMMA), but anything’s possible.

My DD didn't have a Zoom interview. She submitted her essay and then received a telephone call followed by an email confirming her acceptance.

DS was an Inspire attendee last September and had an amazing time. Program gave parents a chance to meet USNA leadership, ask admissions questions and tour the Yard. The experience was amazing, I would go back in a heartbeat if I could. Prior to the Inspire weekend, DS attended the summer seminar and started his app. DS received a LOA in December and his appointment yesterday. Highly, highly recommend attending the Inspire weekend.

Tipluzce: did you already have an interview? How was it?

That is a wonderful news. Congratulations to your son!

Thank you for getting back.
They changed it to zoom interview this year. My DD is very excited about attending inspire program and as the same time she’s a bit nervous about the interview. May I ask what the telephone call was about ?

For me, the phone call came from a lieutenant asking me about general information related to COVID. Once that got cleared up, she then told me in a later call on when I'd receive further information about the program. Mine wasn't really an interview.

Do you know if the event is in spring or fall? Based on the timing of the interview, I'm thinking it would be spring. Would you mind posting some updates after the interview?
