So my Air Force scholarship interview is scheduled at the University of Michigan. I didn't see this as having any significance until I heard that they choose the location based on your first choice school. Is this true? Why is that? Will this affect the scholarship process since U of M is no longer my first choice anymore?

Thats not true, I had my interview at UNLV because I lived in Las Vegas and UNLV was third on my list. They pick the school with the AFROTC detachment that is closest to you.
