Is it typical to have to coordinate the submission of appointment results myself?

My whole DoDMERB experience has been incredibly complicated and confusing. Just for one example I had to redo a remedial after the healthcare location both took the completely wrong measurements and then never uploaded them. Then I went for a second time and they uploaded the wrong documentation afterward so I had to get my own copy of the results and send them to dodmets myself. There were several other setbacks that came up but I won't get into the whole story right now.

What prompted me to make this post is that a separate provider, that I went to for a separate remedial, finally found someone to sign off on the results and now they're asking me what address/fax number they should send the results to. To be clear all of the providers that I went to for my initial examination and the remedial appointments were assigned to me by dodmets. Am I mistaken about how the dodmerb/dodmets process is meant to go? I was under the impression that my role in the process was to simply get an appointment scheduled through dodmets and show up on time. I am very willing to call the providers and instruct them where to send the results or get the results from them myself but it surprises me that this is part of the process. If this is my responsibility then that fact was not communicated to me very clearly.

A tip for all future applicants: When people tell you to start DoDMERB early, believe them! haha

It can be frustrating, for sure. But if you think about it, even those these are scheduled through dodmets, the providers used may not be aware of the nuances surrounding these appointments. Some probably are as they do many of them, but most I would guess don’t process these types of things with any regularity.

Its why posts like ‘my stuff was marked incomplete’ exists. And the care team has to contact the providers to ‘fix’ things missed, for example.

I remember my oldests first exam. The provider was very confused as to what it even was. Staff didn’t know how to file it. The exam was at a place that generally processes drug screenings for employers.

And a hearty YES!!!!! THIS IS WHY EVERYONE IS TOLD TO START THE PROCESS EARLY. To allow for these things to get worked through.

It’ll never be perfect. But there are checks in place to get through it. Just make sure and allow time for that.

I agree with this 100%. Son did start DoDMERB early, and glad he did. The provider was a screener for employers, they really didn't have a clue. Weeks went by, and then DS checked in with DoDMETS and found no paperwork had been sent. He called the Dr.'s office, asked it to be resent and asked for a copy to be sent to us as well.

Few days go by and he finds out the forms were not signed in the proper places. Tried again. Eventually, after a drive back up to the office, we got it all straightened out and resent. I was really glad this was happening in late August and not February.
