So I was born in China but raised in the US and I have just obtained a US citizenship. I’m wondering if it’s possible to travel to china if admitted into the Academy.

I have spoken to my ALO about this question and she said that it was possible when she was in the academy, and she’d ask someone and get back to me but never did. I tried to contact her but she never responded to my emails.

Any current USAFA cadets or recent USAFA grads know if it’s still possible?

Thanks

If you are approved to travel internationally by your SA, you should be able to visit China. However, the trip to China may complicate your security clearance process (Just my guess)

Also it is my understanding, the state department has a list of countries that US citizens are restricted to travel -- such as North Korea. China is not among them.

If USAFA is like USNA in this regard, the cadet will need to file a plan for foreign travel. That plan will have to be approved by the chain of command. Even if it's approved, the cadet should be ready for it to be rescinded, not necessarily because of the location but because duty calls, i.e. the needs of the military. That was DD's experience as a USNA mid, and I'd think it applies to other SAs.

To add on, if approved by the Chain of Command, you need to take a few online courses, which are pretty easy if they are similar to USMA requirements.
