January 4, 2011 AROTC Board

One last shark jump

Should we add a note that this board was the saner of the 2011 boards? March had a potential government shut down in the works....and still no results. OH, well, thank goodness all the employees and our military will continue to work and be paid. Prayers for the overseas deployed that their minds can return to their business at hand knowing their familys are not facing financial ruin for political gain here at home.

The March 8 folks are gonna be p.o.'d that the Jan. 4 board is being bumped!!

Yes, I'm PO'd!!!!!!!! :rocket:

but hard to be too upset on the day you've learned that DD got a 4 Yr. AROTC Scholarship... :beer1:

I never thought I'd say it, but...

Go Army! Beat Navy!

which brings me to a Joke.

A soldier goes into a Bar to watch the Army-Navy football game. He brings his trained cat with him. Bartender says "Hey, no pets in here" Soldier says --"Oh, this isn't an ordinary cat. Wait until you see what he does when Army scores against Navy."

Middle of the 2nd quarter, Army kicks a field goal. The cat jumps up, goes down the bar high fiving all the patrons.

The bartender is mightily impressed, and says "Hey, that's incredible. What does he do when Army scores a Touchdown?"

Soldier: "I don't know, I've only had him 3 years"

Noticed the views jumped a bit today...everyone trying to reference when the results released I'd bet. Oct, January and March are nothing alike this year. Wonder what next years boards will have in store, thank goodness I only have to do the military thing once(unless my youngest DD wants to remake Goldie Hawn's Private Benjamin:yllol:) Think I'm safe.

actually, that would be either Ensign Benjamin, or 2nd LT Benjamin!

I like the ring of "2nd LT Benjamin" better! GO ARMY, BEAT NAVY! BTW, I loved, Loved, LOVED the bar joke. It truly did make me LOL!

Oh . . . and by the way, . . . "BUMP!"

The Thread that will just not DIE.

If there were a Thread Hall of Fame this would surely be in it.

I agree....Go Army Beat Navy

Ohio, you're about to lose your throne as the most viewed thread to the Class of 2015 Mail Stalkers Club!

Still Great Encourager

I will gladly ceed the throne to Mail Stalkers -- those families survived SA appointment process, nothing but total respect for them:thumb:

She will not ever be overtaken as great encourager for those waiting and waiting and waiting!!

So I talked to my point of contact today and she said that they were posting the results from the march board right now (this was at like 1400 ET) and that she expected them to be available online tonight, but I have yet to see them. I've been checking my status at the following website: https://schlr4yr.usarmyrotc.com/scholarshipstatus/RetrieveStatus.asp
I have been looking in the right place, right?

You might want to post this on the March 8 2011 AROTC Board thread. They would like to know this great info!

I whole-heartedly second that! :thumb::thumb::thumb: Ohio's one special lady!

You are one of the most positive and caring people I have communicated with, you have very lucky children to have such a supportive mom. I have no doubt they will all go on to do great things, the apple never falls far from the tree.

Even with such a frustrating process we have all been through, I think I will actually miss the conversations, just not the stress.

Stress? Ah, that's where all my gray hair is coming from!

Buy some hair dye and try to let the stress go. I think in some ways not getting the scholarship has freed me and DS and given us back some sense of control in his college choice.

I will absolutely miss the conversations - on topic and off - with all of you. Cyber friendships are odd in they can be so personal and impersonal all at the same time. The process is so encompassing that we cannot help but be sucked into an almost other world like existance. I may not be around too much once I find a full-time job, but will always check in to see who might still be around, maybe continuing to support and encourage the 2016 kiddos or just to PM some of you.

Jcleppe, will look forward to the continued great comments and insights you share and Paradoxer, when you decide, if your gonna be coming thru Ohioland headed to college with DS, you have my contact information - would love to meet you in person. Anyone else, feel free to PM me if you ever want to find out my real name and continue to talk:wink:

Take care.
