lack of leadership

Oh goodness, apologies to all the 2022 ‘likes’ on this resurrection! Didn’t notice the dates.

@XiangLynn what changed for you, if you care to share? From you initial interest, to your current lesser ‘lack of interest’?

Hmm I think it's because I have gotten a lot more...social? And I have been going outside more and meeting new friends. From those hangouts, I realize I really do love NYC and would hate to leave the city life. The rural-ish campuses I have visited were too quiet for me and I quite honestly would be banging my head against the wall all day if I were to stay in such an environment for 4 years. After attending SLE though, I am aware of the numerous unique opportunities I would have if I do study there so I do not want to completely drop my application either. I have already gotten this far into my application too. USMA is still very much an option I would consider if I get in :)

I suppose I should. Heres a very brief update:

USMA stuff:
- attended SLE: had a lot of fun; failed the cfa there
- took the cfa a few days ago with much better scores, still waiting for word back
- sent in my congressional nominations stuff, still waiting for word back
- started my medical; scheduled checkups already

College apps:
- I'm gonna be real here the military academies aren't my first choice for college. Rather, I see it as another option available for me to consider in the case I do get accepted. USMA is the only military academy I am applying to. My first choice would be a school in NYC (where I live) like Barnard or NYU or the CUNY Macaulay program. Somewhere urban essentially. Now that I think of it, USMA is the most rural school I am applying to. But given how it's USMA, I can put up with being in a quieter area since you can't really leave campus that often anyways. But, I plan on going on a premed track majoring in psychology and will be applying ED to Barnard.

Hope this helps :)
Just putting this out there...because you say you are pre-med. You should know that you do not have to go to a service academy or even do ROTC to become a military physician. The Health Professions Scholarship Program pays for med school or a PhD in Psych. The payback is 4 yrs of service. Also, think of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences--where you can get paid as a 2LT and not pay tuition at all. Just throwing these ideas out there--because the worst thing is to miss options because you have never heard of them. Again, best wishes.
