Letter of Assurance (LOA) received

@A1Janitor Do you remember what items on his application were still outstanding?

This is fascinating. Congratulations to all LOA recipients!

My son received a LOA last year in December. We were amazed as they are few and far between. He is now a C4C class of 2023....It's been quite a ride! Get ready for the rollercoaster!:)

I stand corrected. I asked my son relevant times and submissions.

I thought my son got his LOA before he submitted his CFA scores and medical (medical was end of December/January).

He submitted his CFA scores, which completed his application, on December 2. Immediately right after an LOA was updated to his portal when he submitted them.

Your son is at USNA? I remember you mentioning that he received an early LOA for USNA in the past. I'm only asking because I'm not sure if it is the same at USAFA.

Update. Still no word. MOCs office said before Thanksgiving, so the family placed some bets. Wife says 11/18, I say 11/22, DS says 11/26. Anyone want in on the action? 😂

Hahaha

I’m torn between the 20th and 27th. I’ll go with the 25th. Yep, that’s my bet.

My current youngster got his right before Thanksgiving. It’s a GREAT feeling!

Good news everyone! My DS received his nom yesterday. Thank you everyone for the support.

Dang. If only I had stuck with my FIRST instinct of the 20th, you and I would be tied for the win!

Congrats. It’s a GREAT feeling!!

My son also received a Letter of Assurance. His JROTC instructors assured us that it was extremely, extremely likely he would receive a nomination if he received such a letter, because the Academy sends the representatives a letter saying this is a great candidate that we want to offer an appointment. We have our interview Dec. 4th, and fingers are crossed.

He should copy it to give to everyone at interview.

Another question for everyone.
My DS received an email from our state senator to schedule an interview for nomination yesterday. Since he received the LOA, and a nomination from our congressman, would there be any benefit to interviewing with the senator?
By the way, you are all awesome and thank you for all of the information, advice, and support.

My son got his LOA and nom from MOC before Senators interviews. He went to them anyway.

They both noted the LOAs and nom already - so they didn’t give him a nom.

My son knew before going in that it didn’t matter but used the interviews for experience and practice.

My son had an LOA and nom before our Congressman and one Senator had interviews. He was told to interview anyway and ended up with noms from all 3. It didn’t really affect him at all but allowed the Academy to move his nomination source around to fit in the best candidates. It depends on how your state arranges nominations.

I realized I never updated. My son received his offer of appointment and accepted early in December. We are beyond proud and happy. Thank you everyone and good luck to all the candidates.
Congratulations! Pass my respect onto DS and the rest of your family.

Hi All!

Have lurked a bit in this forum, usually as it often came up when searching various Service Academy questions.

My son completed all parts of his application to the USAFA the last week of October, IIRC, and received a Letter of Assurance dated November 27th.

He had just completed his interviews with the committees for the 3 members of Congress that we are eligible to apply for a nomination from, 4 days prior, on the 23rd. He said he got a good feeling from the interviews, and two of the committees when looking at his application/resume even commented that he had one of the strongest applications they had seen that day (or words to that effect).

We emailed the contact points for each MOC the next week, and let them know about the LOA.

Been waiting with baited breath and sweaty palms since then - was hoping to hear back before the holidays, but no luck.

Emailed one of the contact points, and just received a reply yesterday that nominations will go out no later than last week.

Does anybody have any confirmed data on approximately how many LOAs the USAFA actually tenders? And how rare or common it is for an applicant with one to NOT get a nomination?

Thanks and looking forward to spending more time on this very informative forum!

Watching SAF, it seems as though there were alot more LOAs posted this year than in previous years. Just a gut feeling.

A quick scan doesn’t show that compared to last year. A few more at this time ... but that doesn’t mean anything. Maybe more LOAs didn’t come to SAF last year.
