Letters of Recommendation

I am working on my Nomination applications and am getting to the point to where I need to ask for letters of recommendation from 3 people. My biggest question is what should I tell the people writing the letters to put in there. My guess is stuff like why I should get the nomination or why I would be a good fit in the academies but I would like to get some feedback on what people have put in their letters and what kind of things the senators and representatives look for in these letters.

Google is full of sample letters of recommendation. You basically want the people you ask to represent different aspects of your life ....for example, don't ask 3 teachers. Think of employers, neighbors, scout leaders, etc. This is discussed in another thread on this site.

Be sure to re-read the instructions from your Congressman and Senators about the nomination letters. Many times those instructions explain what information they want to see within the letters.
