I have lived abroad my whole life. This didn't allow me to do Girl Scouts, Sea Cadets, or CAP. I understand that many candidates have this advantage.

What can I do to make up for that? Also, is the admissions process different?

As for the “disadvantages” you were referring to: what opportunities do you have outside of school? Any leadership/leader in training opportunity that you could find?

I hope you have MoC to apply to for nominations and not only counting on a VP nom. Good luck!

I have not really looked into the leadership; however, I have participated in model UN activities since 10. Not sure it counts as leadership. I have always been praised in and out of the school community for showing excellent leadership.

I'm sure there are plenty of experiences you bring to the table from your years abroad. Highlight those. What kind of sports do you have? Play soccer? Captain of a team perhaps?

@Zeus He'll use the MOCs based on his home address in the states. Mom and Dad came from somewhere. Depending on why she lived abroad (military?) she could be eligible for the Presidential. But I doubt she's from a military family.

I hope that is the case for “her” (she mentioned Girl Scouts - that is not an easy typo). From usna.edu: If you cannot claim residency within the United States, then the only nomination for which you may apply is the Vice Presidential nomination.
E.g. raised by grandparents?

No, I am not from a military family. I live abroad because my parents work in the UN. My dad is from California. I also play soccer.

@Zeus so Dad can probably claim residency in California. There are plenty of old threads that address this. However, you raise a good point and OP should do some research, or have Mom and Dad do so.

I had a marriage with abroad once that lasted less than 3 years, but I wouldn't call that living.

Then I met Mrs. THParent, and all became right with the world.
Married 23 years and she says it only feels like 23 hours...

...underwater :D
