I have read several threads about the LOA. If your status changes to Letter of Assurance and you have a MOC nom and are medically qualified, what is the typical next event to be looking for?

Will it be an letter with an offer?

And how long after it changes on the web site?

When does the status change to appointed ot appointed accepted?

My son was called on 12/17 and told (from his senator's office) that his appointment would be going out on 12/21. He actually received it (dated 12/21) on 12/26. His online status changed to "appointment offered" the next day (12/27). Hasn't accepted it yet, so I can't answer the last question!

My status changed from "Appointment Offered" to "Appointment Accepted" about a week-and-a-half after I sent in my acceptance back in October. :thumb:

Follow up question. So should a phone call from the nominating MOC be expected before getting anything in mail?

There's no telling unless you know someone who has gotten a nom from that same Representative or Senator. I never got a phone call from my MOC about a nom. My Sen got me a letter before it showed up online, but my Rep's letter showed up after it showed the nom online. All that matters is you get the nomination.

My son was called from his senator regarding his nom about a week before he got it in the mail or it showed up online. When he checked his AF online application, he also saw one from his congressman, who had never called or mailed him about it. He got that letter about a week later. So, as Marvin said, unless you know someone in the same district or state, it could go either way.

what I meant was the notification of the appointment. My son got nomination for Senator and LOA. Application site shows nomination (took about a week to update on site after we got email notification from Senator's office). So does admissions notify the MOC first before mailing out appointment paper work?

.... So does admissions notify the MOC first before mailing out appointment paper work?

Yes, as a courtesy to the MOC, the SA notifies them about one week prior to mailing the appointment to the candidate in order to give the MOC the opportunity to notify and congratulate the candidate themselves. But, like the nomination itself, the MOC may (or may not) choose to make that call or write the letter. So it really depends on the MOC.

LOA-followup question

I guess my question is, once your status changes to Letter of Assurance, will you be receiving an offer from the Academy? (assuming you are 3Q'd), in the form of some type of additonal packet, is there another step or is that what the LOA is?

or do you wait until March or April with everyone else?

My daughter is at home right now, she will be leaving for school, and I would hate to miss something and hurt her chances.

Well, if you have yr LOA and your Nom
then just patiently wait for the "application status" to change to "Appointment Offered"....fingers crossed.
It takes a while for all the paperwork to go thru their system etc etc.
Be patient....hopefully good news will come soon
Good luck!
